We are thrilled to announce the beta release of SyncroSim 3.0. A major milestone for SyncroSim, this new version brings a suite of improvements to ecological modeling workflows.
What’s new in SyncroSim 3.0?
To date, each SyncroSim library was associated with a single package. Now, with SyncroSim 3.0 users can connect multiple packages. With the option to start with an empty library, users can build their own workflow by adding and connecting multiple packages via pipelines.
SyncroSim 3.0 also automates package management to install missing packages when a library is loaded, resolving dependency issues and ensuring more consistent package versions across users. This means you can have multiple installed versions of a package, and SyncroSim keeps track of the version used in a particular library.
Other important notes include:
- You can have previous versions of SyncroSim and SyncroSim 3.0 installed simultaneously on your computer. Files will open in the version set as your default application, so make sure to adjust your settings accordingly.
- SyncroSim 3.0 no longer includes template libraries in packages. Instead, example libraries are now hosted on SyncroSim Cloud.
- You can open and update libraries created with previous versions of SyncroSim directly in SyncroSim 3.0. Please note that this update is irreversible, so we recommend making sure the backup of your libraries is working beforehand.
Stay tuned for more updates with the stable release coming later this Fall.
