Introducing ecoClassify: A new way to classify ecological data with SyncroSim

September 18, 2025

We’re excited to announce the launch of our latest SyncroSim package, ecoClassify. Designed for ecologists, conservationists, and environmental researchers, ecoClassify makes image classification in ecology and remote sensing faster, easier, and more reproducible.

Turn Raw Data into Ready-to-Use Maps

With ecoClassify, you can transform raw remote sensing data into ready-to-use land cover maps without writing a single line of code. Whether you’re monitoring habitat change, mapping forest cover, or tracking land-use patterns, ecoClassify helps you get from data to insight in just a few clicks.

Transparent and Trustworthy Results

EcoClassify delivers not just outputs, but insight into the classification process. The package generates:

  • Confusion matrices to evaluate model performance
  • Accuracy metrics to quantify confidence
  • Variable importance scores to show which data mattered most

Built for the SyncroSim Ecosystem

EcoClassify integrates seamlessly with other SyncroSim packages. You can build classification data and use it as inputs for your broader modeling workflows, leveraging the full power of the SyncroSim ecosystem to explore “what if” scenarios and long-term projections.

Get Started with ecoClassify

EcoClassify is available now through the SyncroSim platform. If you’re ready to speed up your ecological image classification and make your workflows more transparent and reproducible, ecoClassify is for you. Learn more about the package at apexrms.github.io/ecoClassify and browse our example ecoClassify libraries at cloud.syncrosim.com/explore.

Upcoming ecoClassify Webinar

To help you get started, we’re hosting a free online webinar on November 5th, in partnership with Western University. This hands-on session will walk you through ecoClassify’s features and demonstrate how to use it in your own projects. Stay tuned for registration details.
